Payal Singhal X Desai Foundation's collection has just launched online - Payal Singhal- Facebook

Singhal said of the collaboration’s inception and discourse with Megha Desai: “We have known each other for 14 years, from back when I lived in New York. Megha has always been a patron of the brand. The Payal Singhal X Desai Foundation collaboration took shape when we met last year.” Singhal went on to say of her close ties to the organisation: “The Payal Singhal X Desai Foundation association is very close to my heart. I’ve been yearning to create an entity that not only provides women employment and financial independence, but also gives them sense of purpose and adds value to their lives. This is the first step in that direction.”

Singhal’s collection launches September and the launch is accompanied by a preview exhibition on the day from 11am to 7pm at the St Regis Mumbai, the venue for the recent Lakmé Fashion Week. The collection will also be available on the Payal Singhal e-commerce store. Kurtas, saarees, tunics, scarves and pouches are just some of the items available and the print Singhal has designed is an impressionistic modern floral.

Payal Singhal won the Designer of the Year award from Shoppers Stop aged only 15 and went on to study fashion at SNDT, Parsons School of Design, and the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. Singhal launched her eponymous label in 2000 and since then has gone on to have her clothing sold in India, New York, Vancouver, and Cape Town among others.
