Womenswear designer Payal Khandwala has launched a ‘virtual shopping experience’ for customers who can select and try clothing, which will then be delivered to their home to help patrons shop during extended lockdown.

“The current pandemic has pushed us all to reexamine our past processes and ‘what next’ has been a constant conversation globally,” the brand said in a press release.

“Reopening this week, with an innovative and one-of-a kind experience, Payal Khandwala has launched a virtual shopping experience for customers who would like to shop the brand's products from the comfort of their homes.”

The brand’s new virtual shopping service is currently available in cities where Khandwala has stores. Customers can select and digitally try clothing from their local Payal Khandwala store and the order is then sanitised by a dedicated team and shipped to the customer’s address. The brand’s e-commerce store also offers international shipping but expects shipments to be delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Khandwala opened a new flagship store for her brand in Kala Ghoda, Mumbai in November, 2019, shifting from her previous address in the city at Colaba. The store is housed in Kala Ghoda’s 100-year-old ‘Bhartania’,building. The brand also has another flagship store in Mumbai and one in Bengaluru as well as a presence in multi-brand stores across India.

Payal Khandwala launched her eponymous brand in 2011 and launched the dedicated e-commerce store in 2018. Khandwala is known for her sarees and modern take on traditional Indian textiles.
