Paul Weller’s fashion brand Real Stars Are Rare launches Crowdcube campaign

English singer, songwriter and musician Paul Weller has started a crowdfunding action to raise £400,000 to expand his men’s clothing brand Real Stars Are Rare.


The brand is projecting sales to reach £260,000 this year - Real Stars Are Rare


Launched in 2014 with retailer Phil Bickley, the brand features clothing designed and inspired by Paul Weller, who oversees all aspects of design from the initial sketch through to fabric selection and production.

In addition to being known for his successful writing, recording and performing career – he was part of The Jam and The Style Council before embarking on a 25-year solo career – Paul Weller is a celebrated fashion icon.

His personal style has led him to collaborate with leading brands including Pretty Green, Fred Perry, Ben Sherman, Hudson and Daks.

Since its launch, Real Stars Are Rare has achieved sales of over £400,000 and a customer following with over 13,000 subscribers and over 10,000 followers across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. 

It currently trades from an online store and a small concession in Tonic, an independent menswear store in Notting Hill owned by brand CEO Phil Bickley.

According to the Crowdcube campaign, the company expects sales to reach £260,000 this year, supported by the launch of the Autumn/Winter 2017 collection in September.

The funds raised will be used to expand the number of wholesalers, broaden the collection, revamp the website, add dedicated design and support functions and market the brand.

Paul Weller and Phil Bickley plan to open a dedicated retail outlet in 2018.
