The company has also pledged to donate Rs 25 crore ($4.1 million) to the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situation (PM CARES) fund.

Apart from this, all the employees of its group companies will also donate their one-day salary to this fund.

“Yogi Ramdev has announced a contribution of Rs 25 crore in the Prime Minister’s relief fund. Around Rs 1.5 crore from the salary of staff of Patanjali Ayurved, Patanjali Dairy and Ruchi Soya will be contributed to the fund. We would also work in research for finding a solution to the pandemic,” the company said in a statement.

“Our volunteers and followers will also render medical and health assistance in the fight against Covid-19,” it added.

The company had earlier received criticism for advertising its Giloy Ayurvedic herb treatment as effective against coronavirus.

Patanjali is aiming to be the country’s largest FMCG Company ahead of Hindustan Unilever (HUL) over the next five years.
