The first Patanjali store opened in the T2 terminal the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi and it will be the first of many to come. The Managing Director of JHS Svendgaard, Nikhil Nanda, said on the occasion: "There is a captive audience at airports, which Patanjali will tap into through these stores.” The stores are being set up under the supervision of JHS Svendgaard Retail Ventures, part of the JHS Svendgaard Group.

Opening at Indian airports will introduce international travellers to the Patanjali brand. The Ayurvedic beauty, health, and personal care brand is increasingly becoming well known outside of India and SK Tijarawala, a spokesperson for Patanjali, recently stated that “Patanjali products are being sought across world markets." Although Patanjali has so far refused to give a stake in the company to a foreign firm, the business is increasingly broadening its horizons.

JHS Svendgaard makes toothpastes for Patanjali as well as other Indian brandssuch as Dabur. Internationally, it makes toothpastes for Elder Health Care and JL Morisons. The business is currently in the process of expanding into the manufacture of other personal care products. Patanjali has seen its sales grow by 20 times over the past financial year with revenue reaching 10,561 crore rupees (approximately 1.6 billion US dollars) in the 2017 financial year compared to 453 crore rupees (approximately 68 million dollars) in 2012.
