Panthoibi Emporium is a unit of Manipur Handlooms and Handicrafts Development Corporation (MHHDCL) which works as a collection house of locally produced handloom and handicraft products from various weavers and artisans of different communities in the state.

With this partnership, artisans, and weavers from the state of Manipur will be able to sell their products as Amazon sellers across the country.

Amazon will provide the sellers of ‘Panthoibi Emporium’ personalised training for a quick start, increased customer visibility, and dedicated marketing support among others.

Commenting on the partnership, Sumit Sahay, director of selling partner services of Amazon India in a statement said, “The programme aims to digitise 10 million small enterprises by 2025. Since its launch in 2016, Amazon has had similar collaborations with 30 government emporiums, and seven government organisations, and included over 3,700 master weavers, co-operatives, artisans and regional apex bodies in its online marketplace.”

Elangbam Jeeten Singh, managing director of MHHDCL added, “The collaboration with Amazon would help increase the customer base of these weavers and artisans. It would also bring attention to local products from the state that are representative of Manipur’s rich cultural heritage.”

Amazon India claims that the partnership will benefit over 3,00,000 artisans and weavers associated with Panthoibi Emporium.
