Panerai sees India as future key market, launches exclusive watches with MS Dhoni
The brand launched two exclusive editions of its Luminor model on November 27 which feature MS Dhoni’s signature engraved on the case-back and his cricketing image on the front. The designs also feature the number 183 which represents Dhoni’s highest score in one-day international cricket, the brand announced on Facebook.
“Cracking the Indian market is like running a marathon; it takes time and patience,” Panerai’s chief executive Jean-Marc Pontroué told ET Bureau on November 27. “In our geographical mix, there are mature markets which are growing at 3-5%, a few markets are shrinking, and there are promising markets where it’s time to grow now. For a brand like ours, India will be a big market in the next few years. Today, India is not part of top 10 countries in the world but in the next few years it will be in our top 10 markets.”
Panerai first entered the Indian market six years ago and has sped up brand expansion in the past couple of years. The brand appointed celebrity cricketer MS Dhoni as its India brand ambassador in 2018.
