Onitsuka Tiger opens first store in India

Onitsuka Tiger, the lifestyle brand by sportswear giant Asics opened its first monobrand store in India at Mumbai.

The store located at the Palladium Mall, Lower Parel has a retail space of 74.3 square meters and will house the brand’s signature collections as well as the perennial and popular footwear, accessories, apparel for men and women.

The exclusive Onitsuka Tiger creations such as the Onitsuka Tiger x Andrea Pompilio 2017 collection will also be available at the store.

Managing Director, Asics India Pvt Ltd, Rajat Khurana in a statement said, “The world over Onitsuka Tiger is a brand that resonate the spirit of Japan in its collection for apparel, footwear, and accessories. Its athletic heritage and modern designs make the brand aspirational for the style conscious consumer. We are delighted to present the brand in India as it elevates the fashion quotient.”
 
Asics was selling its Onitsuka Tiger range in India before through Madura Fashion & Lifestyle's multi brand store, The Collective. Onitsuka Tiger was created in 1949 by Kihachiro Onitsuka and currently has over 200 stores worldwide.
 
Asics entered India in 2015 and has been in expansion mode since. The introduction of standalone Onitsuka Tiger stores is part of its strategy to capture footwear market share in India. Asics has 22 mono-brand stores in India and planning to open 7 more stores by the end of this year.
