Oceana Clutches launches vegan line

Handbag brand Oceana Clutches has launched a line of vegan handbags in bright hues made from biodegradable and cruelty free materials. 

The collection is made from materials including organic cotton and plant leather derived from cactus, mushroom, and wood, the brand announced in a press release. In order to produce vegan cactus leather for the bags, cactus leaves are cut, cleaned, and mashed before being dried and treated with non-toxic chemicals. The material is then moulded into the desired shape and coloured with natural materials. 
 
“We at Oceana Clutches strongly believe that conscious living shouldn’t be a choice but a lifestyle,” said the brand’s co-founders Rima Kapadia and Rashi Maniar in a press release. “As designers we follow the vocal for local motto, where everything from sourcing raw materials to manufacturing to the last packaging is all Made in India. Our creative products are cruelty free and eco-friendly and bridge the gap between luxury and conscious living.”

Notable pieces in the collection include tote bags featuring aquatic appliqués, textured ‘Sunbird’ shoulder bags, and a ‘King Julian’ cartoon panda embellished clutch bag. Bright and youthful, the collection is designed to appeal to a Gen Z and millennial audience. 
 
Rima Kapadia and Rashi Maniar launched Oceana Clutches to specialise in fusion, traditional, and western style clutches. The brand retails from its store in Juhu, Mumbai which is located within the Juhu Orchid Building.
