Obeetee opens new flagship store in Kolkata
Obeetee has opened a new store in Kolkata at Chowringhee Lane. The luxury carpet, textile, and accessories brand’s new address in the city is a spacious home for its full selection of home products.
Obeetee now has an address in Kolkata, the brand announced in a press release on Fenruary 15. The brand’s new store was designed by the Design 21 team, which Obeetee has previously worked with on other stores.
“Obeetee’s new studio in Kolkata is a slightly different concept, showcasing hand-knotted and luxurious carpets in a colonial themed studio-store,” said the brand’s CEO Angelique Dhama in a press release. “An ardent and firm believer in quality craft, Obeetee has a progressive mindset and is proud of the recent domestic expansions we have done. Each one enables a region to experience the opulent and artisanal world of Obeetee Carpets. The Kolkata studio too is uniquely designed and is a must-visit for all.”
The store highlights Obeetee’s heritage crafts by displaying textiles in frames as art throughout the space. With stone floors, chandeliers, and high ceilings, the Colonial style store resembles a boutique hotel meets a craft warehouse.
Obeetee has collaborated with a range of Indian fashion designers including JJ Valaya, Tarun Tahiliani, and Anita Dalmia to create collections inspired by each designer’s own aesthetics. The brand was founded in 1920 and today has a team of over 25,000 artisans who work on creating its products.
