Nykaa to donate around Rs 1 crore to PM CARES Fund

Leading beauty retailer Nykaa has raised around Rs 1 crore ($1,32,082) to donate to the PM CARES Fund, to support the efforts of the government towards fighting the Covid-19 crisis.
 

Over 1,500 employees of Nykaa donated one day’s salary, while an equal contribution was made by founder and CEO, Falguni Nayar, and family.
 
The company has also donated personal protection and hygiene equipment to the police and local government authorities in Delhi, Pune, Bangalore, Kolkata, and Mumbai, among others.

Commenting on the initiative, Nayar, in a statement said: “The Nykaa family has come together to support our fellow Indians in this fight against Covid-19 through raising funds, as well as the distribution of daily essentials and hygiene products to the frontline heroes battling against this deadly disease."
 
“The current situation is one of the toughest we have faced as a nation and this outreach is our humble contribution to the efforts to overcome this crisis," Nayar added.
 
Nykaa has resumed its e-commerce operations and retail stores following some relaxations from the government.
 
Despite the lockdown, the company managed to raise an amount of Rs 67 crore ($8.8 million) from Steadview Capital last week.
