As India remains under lockdown in an attempt to stop the spread of coronavirus, multi-brand beauty retailer Nykaa has launched a new range of essential products eligible for delivery under the new regulations.

Gone are the multitude of Indian and international beauty brands and their latest offerings and in their place are personal care essentials. In accordance with the Union Government’s ruling that only essential items can be delivered during the 21-day lockdown, Nykaa has created a new e-commerce interface, which only shows ‘essential’ personal care products such as soap, skincare, haircare, and baby products.

On March 26, the brand also launched a collection of hand soap from its private label brand Nykaa Beauty. The new line of hand soaps features three scents: Sicilian Sweet Pea, Japanese Cherry Blossom, and Country Rose. Quick to adapt to the new paradigm of pandemic, Nykaa has mixed health and safety with its classic pastel pink aesthetic.

Nykaa’s clothing and jewellery arm Nykaa Fashion now only retails lingerie and sleep wear as essential goods eligible for delivery. The site also retails a range of appliances.

Before the lockdown began, Nykaa made the call to postpone its upcoming interactive beauty festival Nykaaland, originally scheduled to run from March 21 to 22 in Mumbai. Falguni Nayar’s brand plans to schedule a new date for the event after the pandemic subsides.
