US department store Nordstrom has launched a "Sustainable Style" category on its official website -- marking a new era for the company and a fresh selection of eco-luxe apparel to choose from for fashionistas who shop there.

Accessible via Nordstrom.com/sustainablestyle, the new, curated listing will feature more than 2,000 items from 90 brands; and includes items such as an eco-friendly Tencel lyocell blend; a Stella McCartney cape wedding dress created out of sustainably-sourced, environment-friendly materials; and a Fjallraven backpack fashioned from recycled plastic bottles and spin-dyed to use minimal water, energy and chemicals.
The news comes as François-Henri Pinault -- chairman and chief executive officer of by French luxury behemoth Kering -- prepares to present the G7 Fashion Pact at the upcoming G7 Summit in Biarritz, France, where leaders of the world's most industrialized and developed economies will soon gather to discuss global issues.
Commenting on the launch of a "Sustainable Style", Pete Nordstrom, copresident at Nordstrom said: "Nordstrom has a long-standing commitment to operating as a responsible company," adding that the company is participating in efforts that will make "tangible and meaningful progress in areas that are critical to the future success of our business, our communities and the environment".
