Nitin Bal Chauhan to showcase collection at LMIFW with Ebixcash
Womenswear designer Nitin Bal Chauhan will showcase his autumn/winter 2020/2021 collection on the runway on day two of Lotus Makeup India Fashion Week in partnership with Ebixcash. The Fashion Week has now been postponed but the schedule is expected to remain the same.
As the Fashion Design Council of India announced the schedule for its upcoming LMIFW, which begins on March 11, it announced that Nitin Bal Chauhan will return to the fashion week and show a collection with financial technology and insurance business Ebixcash.
“Society produces a lot of art which is an expression of the times which we are living in and, since fashion is relevant to time, I think fashion and art have to go hand in hand that’s why ‘fashion wears art’ is always relevant,” said Chauhan about the theme for the fashion week in a video created by the FDCI, posted on Facebook.
“This time the collection is very much close to my heart, it’s based on the Jallianwala Bagh tragedy and I wanted to draw a lot of expressionistic art… with chalk and pastel,” said Chauhan. Along with dark sketches printed on garments, the collection will also feature intricate 3D embroidery and expressive silhouettes.
The designer also launched his previous, spring/summer 2020 collection ‘Dementia’ at LMIFW on October 10, 2019, which was World Mental Health Day. The collection explored the effects of dementia and mental health with a conceptual, dark aesthetic.
Nitin Bal Chauhan launched his eponymous brand in New Delhi in 2016. Chauhan’s brand retails on a number of multi-brand fashion e-commerce sites such as Pernia’s Pop-Up Shop and in multi-brand boutiques in India and online.
LMIFW was scheduled to take place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi from March 11 to 15, 2020. However, due to fears over the coronavirus, it has been postponed.
