Nisaba Godrej named managing director, CEO of GCPL as Vivek Gambhir resigns

Vivek Gambhir has resigned from the position of managing director and chief executive officer of Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL), citing personal reasons. He will step down from the position on June 30.
 

The company’s executive chairperson, Nisaba Godre,j will take over the role of MD and CEO of the company, with effect from July 1, 2020.
 
Commenting on her new role, Nisaba Godrej, in a statement said: “I look forward to working closely with our talented team to drive our company ahead with clarity, hard work, kindness and a strong sense of purpose, to emerge stronger on the other side. I also want to take this opportunity to thank Vivek for his many contributions to Godrej over the past 11 years.”

Commenting on her journey with GCPL, Vivek Gambhir said: “After 11 fulfilling and wonderful years with Godrej, it is time for me to move on to chart the next phase of my journey. Recently, I had some health problems that made me think more deeply about my lifestyle. Thankfully, I have fully recovered. I would now like to be able to spend more time with my family.”
 
Godrej Consumer Products Ltd is owned by the billion-dollar firm Godrej Group and has a strong presence in the personal care and cosmetics market. For the fiscal year 2019-20, it reported a net profit of Rs 1,497 crore ($198.4 million) and revenue of Rs 9,827 crore.
