Nike has rehired Dave Dombrow back to the Swoosh from his most recent role as Senior Vice President of Design at Under Armour.

Dombrow worked for Nike from 2000-2003. He then moved on to Puma and most recently Under Armour, where he led design direction on signature athlete footwear lines including NBA MVP Stephen Curry’s shoe and NFL MVP Cam Newton’s signature style.

His return to Nike is good for Nike, considering UA showed a 95% attack on Nike in Q4 in the form of $1.17 billion in sales in Q4 alone.

UA’s Nike attack continues, setting up a huge 70,000 square foot design campus in Nike’s backyard. It is rumored that the brand is going to open the Portland design facility this year.

With Nike, Adidas and UA all housing design in the Portland area, athleisure competition will be fierce and consumers can expect a new level of product design from all 3 key playing sport brands.
