Nike responds to Under Armour

Has the battle of running-fitness apps begun? At the beginning of February, Under Armour acquired the American MyFitnessPal and the Danish Endomondo companies to connect to 120 million athletics around the world.

Nike is developing its partnerships around its Nike+ app - Nike


Less than a month later, Nike is showing off its own muscles in the digital world. The global leader in sports has announced partnerships with Garmin, TomTom, Wahoo Fitness and Netpulse. Garmin and TomTom are specialists in GPS-fitted watches while Wahoo Fitness is a fitness tracker that monitors cardiac activity and personal fitness data and Netpulse offers connected solutions for gyms.

For its Nike+ Running app, which was revised for the occasion, Nike is integrating the relationship with its new partnerships via a specific tab that makes it possible to put a watch or fitness equipment online with the app.

Now it just remains to be seen whether users of its apps becoming consumers of the brand, which will coach their sports performance digitally.
