The first post-pandemic edition of Suvyan launched on June 7 in Chandigarh to present a wide array of clothing, textiles, and homeware products made by students, the NIIFT announced on Instagram. The exhibition focused on work by the NIIFT’s BSc in textile design students who created their final collections based on a range of inspirations.

The exhibition was attended by the state government of Punjab’s Department of Industries and Commerce’s principle secretary and NIIFT chairperson Dilip Kumar, who attended as chief guest, Tribune India reported. Other guests included the Punjab Government’s secretary come director of the Department of Industries and Commerce Sibin C, who is also the NIIFT’s director general. A jury presented awards to students for most innovative collection, most commercial collection, best design methodology, and a special jury award.

The Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology was established by the Punjab Government’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce in 1995, according to the institute’s website. The NIIFT offers numerous bachelors and masters degrees in fashion and textiles with focus areas ranging from knitwear to garment manufacturing technology among others.
