The fashion and lifestyle brand Nicobar has just launched two different collaborative collections, one with its former head designer Aparna Chandra, and one with the MasterChef chef Gary Mehigan.

For its second collaborative collection with Aparna Chandra, Nicobar has created both menswear and womenswear using linen that travels from Tiruppur in Tamil Nadu to the brand’s garden studio in Delhi. The collection is entitled “Sitth” and all pieces are made by hand. Chandra was previously Nicobar’s head designer but then struck out as an independent designer. Nicobar has collaborated with her for this collection in her capacity as an independent designer.

Nicobar’s second collaboration is with Gary Mehigan of MasterChef fame and his wife Mandy Mehigan. The collaboration has created the “Indian Ocean” kitchenware collection which features traditional motifs painted on plates, bowls, serving dishes, and trays. With an ocean-themed colour palette of off white and pale blue, the collection was inspired by coral, rustic Indian style, and Mehigan’s own love of Indian cooking.

Nicobar was founded by Simran Lal and Raul Rai with a vision to create a fashion and lifestyle brand that was made to last and not dependent on trends. The design-duo aim to create a modern, minimalist take on India’s cultural heritage and their brand retails products including clothing, fragrances, bedding, jewellery, accessories, table ware, and shoes. The brand has stores in seven Indian cities and also retails from a number of multi-brand boutiques as well as its own e-commerce store.
