The Click & Collect phenomenon continues to be popular in the UK, which has the "arguably most sophisticated online shoppers in the world," a new report from IMRG and CollectPlus states.

Shoppers in the UK have the highest spend per capita over an extended period of years and click & collect is becoming an increasingly attractive option. The click & collection option is growing at a rate of 20% per year, the survey revealed.

In 2014, 50% of those surveyed said offering click & collect would make receiving deliveries more convenient. 31% said an alternative delivery point, such as a locker box, would make it more convenient, while 37% chose an alternative delivery point with long opening hours at evenings and weekends.

For 39%, being able to select delivery to a local delivery point if delivery at home failed would make receiving deliveries more convenient.

Click & Collect in-store is still the most popular option in the UK, with 73% of respondents having used it, and 10% planning to do so in the future.

Neil Ashworth, CEO, CollectPlus comments: "In just one decade, click & collect has gone from early trials amongst innovative retailers to a standard component of the multichannel retail proposition."
