Onnyorong, founded in April this year, has launched a line of clothing designed to be season-less as Kolkata weather continues to heat up. The collection is also designed to be able to work from day to night and from the office to a party. This is the brand’s first season-less collection and is a concept it will continue with moving forward.

The brand’s signature has become its angrakha-style dress which was one of its first designs. The loose dress can be worn as a layered piece or on its own and its loose shape is designed to be body positive, according to the brand’s designer and founder, Srimoyee Ray Sil. The collection also features sarees, jackets, and sets.

The brand recently took part in the Uphaar fashion and lifestyle exhibition inaugurated by Ritabhari Chakraborty. The exhibition, which took place in Kolkata last month, included jewellery by Falguni and Object D’Art and clothing by Parampara, Royal Bengal Crafts, and Priya-Su Boutique among others.

The brand’s name means “a different colour”, reflecting its muted and earthy colour palette which stands out against the multitude of bright fusion wear on offer. The brand’s founder, Srimoyee Ray Sil, who is a former advertising professional, felt a need for handloom apparel that was made without any harmful chemicals. This means no neon colours but this suits Sil’s designs well and gives the clothing the benefit of being hypo-allergenic.

The brand retails from its new boutique in Kolkata and prices start at Rs 1,500 ($21).
