Naga’s Meet celebrates fashion at 55th edition in Delhi

On November 16, the Naga Students Union Delhi (NSUD) held the 55th Naga’s Meet at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium In New Delhi and put on a runway show featuring traditional and fusion Naga fashion.

In order to promote and preserve Naga culture, the NSUD held the 55th Naga’s Meet which was attended by over 5,000 guests. The audience comprised of Nagas from Nagaland and Manipur and an array of Naga clothing for both men and women was showcased on the runway.

The runway show was opened by Miss India Nagaland 2017, Kaheli Chopy, and a show by Mai Colletion followed. The show presented a modern take on traditional Naga clothing for the winter season paired with traditional jewellery. The model Kenny Awomi, who has also walked at India Fashion Week, was the showstopper of the event.

Next followed a show by 7 Line Creation designed by Lenti Lyne Rozhemai who presented her own take on Naga fusion wear. Wijaidin Pamai, a rising star amongst North-eastern models, closed the show. Pamai is a member of Delhi Fashion Club as is the show’s choreographer, Harshit Dhingaun. Hair styling was done by Rinya, makeup by Vine, and photography by Nick Wungsek.

The event’s theme was “Reminiscing the Glorious Past, Celebrating the Present and Hope for the Future". Along with a number of prominent guests from Nagaland’s fashion industry, special guests at the show included Shri Tongpang Ozukum, Minister for the Public Works Department, Government of Nagaland, Shri Sapu Bhattacharyya, Managing Director, NEC Energy Private Limited, and Gawang Hakhun, President of the Naga Students Federarion, Arunachal Pradesh, among others.
