Myntra strengthens wearables segment with the launch of Blink Play

Flipkart owned fashion online retailer has launched its smart 'hearable' fitness device ‘Blink Play’ developed by the company’s in house team at the Innovation Labs Myntra-Jabong.

Myntra had forayed into the smart wearables segment with the launch of Blink Go in June last year.
 
The Blink Play device will be available in three premium metallic variants: carbon black, moon silver and rose gold and two sporty variants in green and tangerine. It has been priced at Rs 2250 ($32) and will be available on Myntra and Jabong.
 
Commenting on the launch, Amar Nagaram, head at Myntra- Jabong, in a statement said, “In-house innovation is a very strong working principle at Myntra and Jabong and this has helped us stay ahead as frontrunners at the intersection of fashion and technology.
 
“Blink Play combines ultra-premium fitness features on a wearable device through compact design, while also ensuring accessibility and affordability for the masses, thanks to the efforts of our Innovation Labs team that has made this product a reality,” he added.
 
The market for smart wearables in India has been growing at a CAGR of 140 percent over the last five years with 85 percent of the sales happening online.
 
After capturing a large market share of the fashion market, Myntra is now looking at this segment for future growth and is looking to acquire 10-20 percent of the wearables market over the next three years.
