Myntra launches AI stylist tool

Multi-brand fashion marketplace Myntra has launched an artificial intelligence powered end-to-end automated personal style guide named ‘My Stylist’ to enable online visitors to get styling advice as they shop.

Myntra’s My Stylist is scalable, automated, customisable, and works in real-time to add a new interactive element to its e-commerce offering, the business announced in a press release on May 18. The feature was developed in-house and draws from a catalogue of over 4.5 lakh styles.

“The launch of 'My Stylist' takes our commitment of democratising fashion using technology, a notch higher,” said Myntra’s chief product and technology officer Raghu Krishnananda in a press release. “Powered by machine learning and AI-based technology, this first-of-its-kind innovation at scale in the fashion space in India, is poised to further take the customers’ shopping experience to the next level by recommending looks with an understanding of fashion. Our team of experts has worked tirelessly to ensure that this feature is user-friendly, and intuitive, and from what we have gathered since the launch, we are confident that our customers all across will love to have access to this expert stylist at their fingertips through the much-loved Myntra app.”

My Stylist has launched ahead of the 18th edition of Myntra’s End of Reason Sale, its bi-annual, large scale sale event. The AI feature uses machine learning techniques to recommend clothing and accessories options to shoppers based on their past purchases and recently browsed products.

New customers can upload images of items in their wardrobe to get recommendations for creating outfits in complementary styles. Myntra also plans to add new elements to the AI feature including ‘Your Digital Wardrobe’ and ‘Save the Look’ in the near future.
