Flipkart’s fashion arm Myntra has started a pilot in Delhi NCR that will see it partner with local tailors, as part of its delivery network that aims to reduce the rate of clothing returns.

Myntra plans to partner with local tailors on delivery - Myntra

As part of its plan to reduce its high rate of clothing returns, the e-commerce platform Myntra plans to partner with local tailors for delivery to allow for minor sizing issues to be immediately fixed at the tailors, ET Bureau reported. Following the pilot programme in Delhi NCR, Myntra aims to roll out the partnership across India with a focus on tier 2 and 3 locations.

“Most garments that are returned today on the platform are because of minor alterations required like the length reduction of jeans or top sleeves,” head of Myntra Jabong Amar Nagaram, told ET Bureau. “It means business loss, and more importantly, bad consumer experience for us.”

Myntra has already partnered with local tailors to help with fitting garments and this new partnership would bring them into the business’ delivery system.

The tailors will pick up packages from Myntra’s fulfilment centres and customers would pick them up from the tailors, which would make any alterations simple to arrange. High rates of clothing returns are an issue across Indian e-commerce and Myntra’s partnership with tailors could help to solve this issue whilst also giving local businesses more trade.
