The collection, presented as a live-broadcast runway show, was steeped in 80's inspiration from the metallic lame textiles to electric-hued colour palette. Comfortable athleisure silhouettes were designed for the post-pandemic trend for more relaxed dressing but the use of floor length tassels, glittering embellishments, and graphic prints made a strong statement nonetheless. The collection showed that avant-garde can indeed be comfortable.

“Inspired by the 80’s in particular disco and sportswear- later to be named athleisure, the collection focuses on making the ordinary extraordinary and having fun with it at the same time,” the FDCI announced on Facebook, launching the collection.

Notable items included a magenta sportswear take on a lehenga, a lime green bandeau top and mini skirt set with a floor-length panel, and fully printed tracksuits. Metallic mini dresses, glittering peace signs, and studded denim vests also made an appearance. The colour scheme of purple, electric blue, and silver made for a futuristic take on aerobics wear.

The second joint edition of FDCI x LFW runs from October 5 to 10 with a mix of online and offline events. The fashion week counts Nexa, Rise Worldwide, and Ajio as sponsors.
