North American audiences will get a glimpse at the life and career of legendary shoe designer Manolo Blahnik. Music Box Films has acquired the North American rights to the documentary on the designer, Manolo: The Boy Who Made Shoes For Lizards.

Directed by Michael Roberts, Manolo: The Boy Who Made Shoes For Lizards gives an inside look at the Spanish fashion legend. Notable fashion figures to appear in the film include Anna Wintour, Paloma Picasso and Naomi Campbell. Author Candace Bushnell also appears in the documentary; the HBO adaptation of Bushnell’s Sex and the City helped make Blahnik a household name.

Neil Zeiger, Gillian Mosely and Bronwyn Cosgrave produced the film, whose international rights are managed by Content Media Group. Content Media’s executive vice-president of sales and distribution Jonathan Ford negotiated the distribution rights with Music Box Films. “They are the perfect partner to bring the film to a fashion and shoe loving US audience,” Ford said of Music Box.

Music Box anticipates the documentary will hit North American theaters in the fall of 2017. “We are thrilled to give audiences an insightful look at one of fashion’s most talented artists,” said the company’s director of theatrical distribution, Brian Andreotti.
