Moonray opens first store in Mumbai

Fashion and accessories brand Moonray has opened its first flagship store in Mumbai’s Phoenix Palladium shopping mall. The store houses the brand’s youthful, sustainable designs.

“Welcome to our first store,” announced Moonray on Facebook. “The store debuts as an all white landscape, embracing conscious craft narratives and provoking an unexpected dialogue between two worlds - the inner and the outer, the amorphous with the fiercely detailed. The store design is a collaboration between our artistic director Karishma Swali and noted interior designer Tejal Mathur.”

The new store features an all white seating area, sculptural displays for accessories, and large plants dotted throughout the space. The store houses Moonray’s summer 2022 collection with vintage elements, a Gen Z feel, and sustainable fabrics. The brand, which launched at the end of 2021, has swiftly diversified its product selection and distribution network.

Karishma Swali is one half of Jade by Monica & Karishma and creative director of embroidery business House of Chanakya. Moonray is Swali’s venture with daughter Avantika and it targets a younger customer base with prices in the bridge-to-luxury segment of the market. The brand uses 50% of its proceeds to support children’s education and animal welfare through NGOs,
