Moonray has launched its first ever evening wear collection in-store and online. The womenswear brand’s new line will be the first in a series of limited edition capsule lines and is designed to appeal to a range of ages and promote accessibility in evening wear.

The evening wear line plays with light, both with translucent layers and reflective sequins, for a feminine, futuristic aesthetic. With a mix of bright hues like neon yellow and magenta and ethereal tones such as silver grey, the collection is a departure from the brand’s usual day wear.

“Moonray’s evening edit ‘total internal reflection’ is the first in the series of our limited-edition silver moon capsules,” Moonray’s co-founder Karishma Swali told Elle India about the launch. “We are inspired by a phenomenon that occurs when an object reflects a hundred per cent of the light passing through it. With this collection, we truly indulge our flair for luxe and embellishments, proposing a sense of glamour without detracting from comfort. Expect hand-embroidered crystal chains that add a high-impact attitude to body-friendly silhouettes; beaded embroideries symbolic of reflection and refraction and accessories like elbow-length gloves, bags, belts, and brooches with fringe details in silver.”

The collection has launched in Moonray’s flagship store in Mumbai, which opened its doors in August this year, as well as online. The brand has continued to expand its product categories since its launch to cover footwear, jewellery, and more.

“We have a range of jewellery and would love to make a natural extension into accessories soon,” said Swali about future plans for the brand. “Slowly, but surely, we would love to grow our community worldwide, propelled by universal love and timeless fashion. Always driven by compassion, we will continue to invest 50% of Moonray’s profits in children’s education and animal welfare through registered not-for-profit organisations.”

Designer Karishma Swali launched Moonray with her daughter Avantika Swali in December 2021. The brand focuses on sustainable craft techniques and has an experimental, fusion style aesthetic.
