Jewellery brand Moksh has collaborated with sustainable design brand Bandit to launch a line of jewellery named ‘Shourai’. The collection is sustainably made using airplane scraps.

The new collection, which means “future” in Japanese, has launched exclusively at Moksh’s flagship gallery, located in Mumbai, Moksh announced on Facebook. Made using cubes of recycled gold and upcycled aluminium, flush set, round brilliant-cut diamonds add a touch of luxury to the experimental line.

“The concept of using aluminium and gold together truly was a mad combination,” Bandit founder Satyajit Vetoskar told Vogue India. Bandit sourced scraps of decommissioned airplanes from a junkyard in the outskirts of Agra and the two brands came together to create the collection of cube-link necklaces, rings, earrings, and bracelets for a futuristic, androgynous aesthetic.

“The future lies in collaborations and new design ideas that take the brand beyond the ordinary,” said Moksh’s founder Milan Choksi on his reason for collaborating on this unconventional line, Vogue India reported. “A while ago, we were having a casual conversation in my office and he [Vetoskar] showed me some of the products he had designed using waste material. We’d always wanted to do something together; even though we live two very different lives – he lives and works out of a quaint village in Goa and I live in the mega metropolis of Mumbai – we do have quite a lot in common. Working together on a collection of jewellery was easy.”
