Handbag brand Mistry plans to open its first brick-and-mortar store as it continues to expand. The brand has also partnered with the Hemkunt Foundation for a Covid-19 relief initiative.

Mistry hopes to open a physical store soon, currently retailing from its e-commerce store - Mistry- Facebook

Known for its crescent moon-shaped ‘Selena’ mini bags, Mistry been making a name for itself in the Indian accessories market. The brand plans to continue to expand its product line made from reclaimed leather hides and work towards a zero-waste model.

“Our next aim would be to move into a bigger workshop and open our own physical store along with it,” Mistry’s founder, Ronak Kapoor, told Elle India about his future plans. “

We want our leather bags to be a tactile experience for our audience, and to be able to meet some of our lovely customers and patrons in real life would really be a dream come true!”

The brand has responded to the current Covid-19 crisis by launching ‘Mistry for Covid Relief’ which will see the brand donate 30% of its revenue to the Hemkunt Foundation. The organisation is working to provide people with oxygen and essential supplies during the current crisis.

“We saw the condition worsen every day in front of our eyes, and on the day of our launch, the city moved into another lockdown,” said Kapoor. “We weren’t too worried about not making sales, but what dawned upon us was the upcoming misery amongst people which we could somehow predict.
We quickly made a decision over a few DMs and emails with Harteerath Singh, Director of Hemkunt, to join hands with Hemkunt Foundation to donate 30% of our revenues to them. This is a 100% transparent and non-profit initiative with them."
