Miniso passes 220 India stores in 2022, plans online and offline expansion in 2023
Accessories and lifestyle brand Miniso reached an India store count of 220 in 2022 as the Chinese business continues to expand across the country. In 2023, Miniso plans to focus on large scale stores and continue to expand.
“During the pandemic, we adopted a more conservative store opening strategy and having seen the performance potential of first- and second-tier cities, next year we will mainly open larger stores there,” said Miniso’s India head Tyrone Li in a press release on January 3. “We can see the potential for growth in India and will continue to work with our existing and new partners here to boost our growth in the market.”
Miniso is now present in 125 Indian cities and has 16 stores in the Mumbai metro area. In December, 2022, Miniso opened 10 stores, including a 110 square-metre outlet in Bengaluru on the metro’s New Bel Road commercial pedestrian street. The business also opened a store in Thiruvananthapuram in Lulu Mall.
Miniso considers India as one of its most important international markets due to its large population and growing economy, according to the business. In 2023, Miniso will focus on opening high-performing stores and selecting products to retail which cater to the needs of Indian consumers. The business will also focus on expanding its e-commerce offering on large-scale marketplaces Amazon India and Flipkart.
