Mei.com and Alibaba reinvent shopping with luxury flash-sale channel

Alibaba and Mei.com unveiled a new luxury flash-sale channel on TMALL, which was debuted with a with a live-streamed fashion show event featuring looks that were immediately shoppable.


The live-streamed fashion show featured 42 looks that were shoppable with a 'scan & buy' feature - Mei.com


The live show was streamed on the TMALL app, showcasing 42 looks of clothing and accessories, including luxury brands Sergio Rossi, Proenza Schouler, Stuart Weitzman, Carven and many others. The event was watched by a million consumers who shopped with a 'scan and buy' feature.

Style icon Olivia Palermo was recruited to style one of the runway looks herself and was featured as a front-row attendee, while Chinese actor Peter Sheng made his runway debut wearing a Carven suit.

Nearly 300 luxury brands were featured in the show from over 3,000 world-class brands available through Mei.com as their authorized online sales channel in China. The platform, specialized in flash-sales of fashion and luxury goods, was founded in Japan and entered the Chinese market in 2010.

In July 2015 Alibaba invested in Mei.com to complement the selection of affordable luxury goods for Chinese consumers on Tmall.com, China’s largest third-party platform for brands and retailers.
