Meesho rolls out new employee benefits for MeeCare programme

E-commerce platform Meesho has launched a new range of employee benefits including an infinite wellness leave policy to enable workers to take time off for health or personal projects.

Meesho’s new employee policies include up to 365 days of paid leave for any employee who finds themselves impacted by a serious illness which requires frequent or constant hospitalisation, ET Bureau reported. Employees will also continue to be entitled to benefits such as medical insurance during this time.
The business has also introduced the opportunity to avail a year of unpaid leave to pursue personal goals or projects. If a loved one is unwell, Meesho employees will be able to take up to a year off work with up to 25% of their salary for the first three months of their absence.
“We are seeing cases where employees needed long leave for pursuing personal goals, or needed extended time off if they were ill, or if a family member was critically ill,” Meesho’s chief human resources officer Ashish Kumar Singh told the Economic Times. “This new policy is a recognition of those needs. We don’t expect large numbers of people availing of this policy because of its nature, but we do think that it’s a high-impact programme.”
Meesho is headquartered in Bengaluru and has around 2,000 employees. The business has launched a number of employee programmes in the past few months including introducing its ‘boundaryless’ workplace model in February giving employees greater flexibility with where they work and its ‘gender confirmation’ leave policy for transgender employees in January.
