Meesho launches festive sale with over one lakh new sellers
As digital commerce platform Meesho launched its flagship sale event ‘The Maha Indian Shopping League’ which runs from October 6 to 9, the business announced that it has onboarded over one lakh new sellers.
Meesho expects for its mega sale to drive three times more daily orders from customers in tier 2 cities compared to its September rates, encouraged by discounts across a wide range of product categories, the Economic Times reported.
“Our maiden 'Maha Indian Shopping League' looks to reimagine conventional festive sale experiences and add to the Tier 2-plus users' celebrations,” Meesho’s vice president and general manager for business Utkrishta Kumar told the Press Trust of India.
“We've added one lakh sellers and expanded our product roster to over 700 categories, right ahead of the sale.”
The sale event will feature around 2.5 lakh sellers and over 700 product categories. Ahead of the sale event, the business also bolstered its technological capacity to ensure swift transactions and added deep third-party logistics integrations for last-mile connectivity, it said.
“With a host of innovations, tech and logistical support, Meesho sellers can reach out to a wider customer base online and leverage the Maha Indian Shopping League to drive sales and order growth during the festive season,” said Kumar.
“Early this year, the company announced an industry-first 0% seller commission model that saw a 10-times growth in sellers joining the platform.”
