Around 70 percent of these sellers come from tier 2 cities while the highest number of sellers were from the national capital New Delhi followed by Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra.

Meesho aims to continue with its digitization process and has a larger goal to digitally enable 100 million small businesses over the next few years.

Commenting on the initiative, Lakshminarayan Swaminathan, chief experience officer of supply growth at Meesho in a statement said, “Meesho, through its innovative strategies, has been able to create opportunities for seller communities throughout India. As a testament to this, we have witnessed a significant rise in the number of sellers being on boarded on our platform.”

“We are confident that this trajectory will help us reach our ultimate destination, which is to enable 100 million small businesses to succeed online in India,” Swaminathan added.

Meesho provides MSMEs (micro small and medium enterprises) support to take their businesses online and had launched an industry-first zero percent commission model in July 2021 to help them scale their business.

It claims that sellers have witnessed an average growth of 76 percent on its platform over a period of two years.
