Meesha Scarf’s founders, sisters Meesha and Trisha Khanna, have launched their first apparel collection through their new venture Studio 23, a brand based on their family textile business.

Studio 23's first collection is a modern take on vintage design - Studio 23- Facebook

Studio 23 has launched with a dedicated e-commerce store and 1970’s inspired apparel collection, the brand announced on Facebook. Its maiden womenswear collection features sarees as well as kaftans, separates, and wrap dresses in graphic, retro prints.

“We have been wanting to revamp our family fabric business A.P. Khanna & Sons for a while,” Trisha Khanna told Vogue India.

“We feel there is a whole new generation of consumers out there, much like ourselves, and they want a lot more from their retail fabric store experience. After successfully establishing ourselves in the accessories segment with Meesha Scarf, we were ready to take on ready-to-wear.”

The brand also aims to be as sustainable as possible by manufacturing clothes to last and reducing textile waste by using scraps. Inspired by their family’s ‘Shop No. 23’ in New Delhi’s Shankar Market, the brand plans to expand its product lines while retaining its roots in the Indian textile industry.

“Our hope is for Studio 23 to become a lifestyle fabric store,” Meesha Khanna told Vogue India. “We want to be a one-stop shop for all your fabric needs- clothing and home… Coming up, we have recently completed an interior refurbish project in Goa- the gorgeous Amrapali House of Grace, run by Simran Singh.”
