Marks & Spencer M&S opens 95th India store in Kolkata's Forum Mall

Marks & Spencer has opened its 95th store in India in Kolkata in the city’s Forum Courtyard Mall. The department store’s new large-scale outlet retails its selection of clothing and lifestyle goods.

The new store opened with a launch event hosted by Bollywood actress Mouni Roy, Forum Courtyard Mall announced on Facebook. Roy inaugurated the store wearing a sequin top and mini skirt from Marks & Spencer’s winter party wear line which has launched across Kolkata. 
 
The store is Marks & Spencers’ largest brick-and-mortar outlet in East India to date, measuring 12,000 square feet and spread over two floors, IBG News reported. The store retails men’s, women’s, and children’s wear as well as accessories, lingerie, lifestyle goods, and beauty goods among other products.  

“Customers in Kolkata have shown us a lot of love, and we are thrilled to open our third and largest store in the city today,” said Marks & Spencer Reliance India’s managing director Ritesh Mishra, IBG News reported. “Kolkata’s youth is developing a healthy fashion appetite, seeking the quality and style that M&S provides its customers.”

Following its latest store launch, Marks & Spencer now has 95 stores in 35 Indian cities including New Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Kanpur, Hyderabad, and Chandigarh among others. The business first entered the Indian market in 2001 and subsequently signed a joint venture agreement with Reliance Retail in 2008 to create Marks & Spencer Reliance India Private Limited. 
 
Marks & Spencer trades in 57 international markets with a brick-and-mortar presence and also retails in 33 markets online. The business was first established in the UK in 1884.
