Marks & Spencer expands retail presence in India with store in Indore

Fashion brand Marks & Spencer (M&S) has strengthened its retail presence in the Indian market with the opening of its 96th store in Indore.

The new store located at the Phoenix Citadel Mall with an area of 13,000 square feet will retail men’s, women’s, and children’s wear as well as accessories, lingerie, lifestyle goods, and beauty goods among other products. 

M&S sees huge potential for growth in the Indian market and has plans to ramp up stores in India by opening a store every month.

Commenting on the store launch, Ritesh Mishra, managing director at Marks & Spencer Reliance India Ltd, in a statement said, "Customers in Indore have shown us a lot of love, and we are thrilled to open our second store in the city today. Indore has an appetite for fashion, seeking the quality and style that M&S provides its customers.”

M&S first entered the Indian market in 2001 and subsequently signed a joint venture agreement with Reliance Retail in 2008 to create Marks & Spencer Reliance India Private Limited.

Marks & Spencer also has a strong online presence with its website and marketplaces like Ajio, Myntra, Amazon, among others.
