British retailer Marks & Spencer (M&S) has expanded its presence in India with the opening of its first store in the state of Odisha at Bhubaneswar.

The new store is located at the Esplanade One mall and spread over an area of 6,700 sq feet. The store will house the latest trends in women's wear for AW18 (autumn/winter for 2018) alongside a wide range of wardrobe staples, including smart wear, denim, outerwear, knitwear and more.
 
Commenting on the store opening, Managing director, Marks & Spencer Reliance India, James Munson in a statement said, "We are very excited to unveil our first store in the state. It is a fast growing IT and education hub with an influx of a younger audience who are seeking international fashion trends and experiences. The city is enjoying good economic growth and we feel this is the right time to enter the market."

"For business, we continue to focus on key areas such as women's wear and lingerie, where we have seen significant growth in recent years," added Munson.
 
The store was inaugurated by Bollywood actress Disha Patnani.  Speaking at the launch, she said, "M&S is one of my favourite brands since childhood. I love the fact that they are expanding. When it comes to contemporary fashion and stylish winter wear, M&S is my go-to brand."
 
Marks & Spencer had entered the Indian market in 2008 through a joint venture with Reliance Retail and currently has 67 stores across India. The brand is also available through e-commerce platform such as Amazon.in, Myntra, Jabong and Ajio in India.
