Marcolin is continuing to implement a policy based on direct control over its various markets. After creating two joint ventures with local partners in China and Russia in late 2014, the Italian eyewear manufacturer, which has been owned since by the French private equity house PAI Partners 2012, has announced the creation of a subsidiary in Sweden to better target Northern Europe.

The subsidiary, with its headquarters located in Frösundaviks, north of Stockholm, has been named Marcolin Nordic and has been operational since February. In addition to Sweden it will also oversee Denmark, Finland, Norway and Iceland, where it will distribute all the brands in Marcolin’s portfolio, including Tom Ford, Balenciaga, Roberto Cavalli, Dsquared2, Diesel, Ermenegildo Zegna, Tod's and Emilio Pucci.

"The decision to establish a branch in Sweden comes from the potential of the Nordic market and the relevance that the optical segment has for us and for this area," said Valerio Giacobbi, general manager of sales, marketing and business strategies at Marcolin.
