Manickath Global Fashion Week holds first season in Kochi

Manickath Global Fashion Week held its first ever season at the Bolgatty Dockyard in Kochi. The event showcased brands including Mabrook Naval and Shaila Manaf’s Lehja Boutique.

From October 18 to 19, fashion events organiser Kamal Manickath launched a new fashion event in Kochi. Manickath Global Fashion Week aimed to shine the spotlight on local designers and models and was directed by Shamkhan A, Jude Felix, and Dalu Khrishnadas.

Shaila Manaf showcased a collection at the event by her brand Lehja Boutique, based in Thrissur. The brand’s collection of lehengas, sarees, and gowns sparkled in jewel tone hues. The collection also featured a range of bridal options. 

Calicut-based designer Mabrook Naval presented a womenswear collection titled “Arooza” which mixed traditional wear glamour with ethnic elements such as head-wraps. The collection featured Aari work in Jaali design to opulent effect. 

Other participating designers and brands included Ankita Chaudhry, Chetan Veena, Omero, By Hand, and Shaila. The runway show also showcased children’s wear and gave aspiring young models a change to participate. Children from the area modelled a multi-brand selection of occasion wear and casual wear for the event’s inaugural season.
