Malabar Gold and Diamonds to provide 1 lakh Covid-19 vaccines to employees and others

Jewellery business Malabar Gold and Diamonds has contributed 1 lakh free Covid-19 vaccines and is holding a vaccination drive to help fight against the second wave of Covid-19.

Malabar Gold and Diamonds has earmarked Rs 8 crore ($1.2 million) for its vaccination drive which will see the business offer free vaccinations to its employees, jewellery artisans, investors, and their dependants, as well as people vulnerable to the virus and with limited access to vaccines, ET Bureau reported. The business will also hold education sessions for employees on the importance of getting vaccinated, addressing concerns, and sharing information. 
 
“As the country is battling a resurgent wave of Covid-19 cases, vaccination has become extremely important to prevent the pandemic spread,” said Malabar Group’s chairman, M P Ahammed, ET Bureau reported.

“This initiative is the first step in our contribution to the nationwide vaccination drive. We will use our services and infrastructure to reach out to and vaccinate those who are most vulnerable to the disease. This includes the elderly and those with chronic illnesses who will be identified through charitable associations and likeminded organisations.”
 
The business also recently announced the winners of its global ‘Design to Shine’ jewellery design contest, it announced on Facebook. The brand will manufacture the 10 winners’ jewellery designs, which will be made available as limited-edition pieces.
