M.I.A. teams up with Versace for Versus line
Singer M.I.A let it slip during Paris Fashion Week that she would be collaborating with Versace and today the Italian fashion house has confirmed the news. The Sri Lankan-British musician has designed a collection for the company’s second line, Versus.
The collection will consist of 19 pieces for men and women includes t-shirts, printed jeans, silk skirts, jersey dresses and military jackets. Inspired by Versace knock-offs, the singer wanted to play on the counterfeit Versace prints she found at markets while growing up in East London.
To support the launch, the singer features in the campaign pictures which were shot in East London by Mexican photographer Jaime Martinez.
The collection will go on sale on October 16 both online and in a selection of Versace stores. The launch ties in with the artist’s latest album launch on November 5.
This collaboration is part of a new strategy currently being implemented by Versus Versace, which focuses on the digital space and on enriching its timeless main line with collaborations with young artist from various sectors.
