The ongoing Hunar Haat arts and culture festival in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, runs from January 22 to February 4 and features a wide array of events designed to promote handicrafts, as well as art and culture. The event includes a large scale business-to-customer shopping fair ‘Skill Haat’ with a wide selection of clothing, accessories, and jewellery made by local artisans on show.

The ongoing event also ran in tandem with the UP Divas fashion show to promote clothing made from handloom textile Khadi. The event aimed to show that handloom textiles can be fashion forward and promote them to boost the local weaving industry.

“Khadi is a local product and on the occasion of UP Divas a fashion show was held here with the aim of showing people how it can be worn in day-to-day life as well as in weddings and other occasions,” said additional chief secretary for Khadi and Village Industries, Navneet Sehgal, at the fashion show, Asian News International reported.

The festival is held in line with the Union Government’s ‘Make in India’ campaign to promote domestic industries and exports. Hunar Haat is run by the Ministry of Minority Affairs.
