The house will stage its next cruise show in New York on May 8, 2019.

Vuitton’s creative director Nicolas Ghesquière broke the news with a video on his Instagram account put online on Friday afternoon.

Fusing together past images of his previous cruise shows for Vuitton, Ghesquière stated simply in his text: “My next cruise show @louisvuitton will be in New York on May 8th 2019.”

The designer has broken new ground by staging all of the house’s cruise collections in architecturally dynamic locations, as the video reminded viewers.

Ghesquière's debut cruise show in 2014 was presented in Monaco in the Place du Palais, before the castle of ruler Prince Albert. A year later, he took over Bob Hope’s famed futurist estate in Palm Springs, ideal for the designer’s fusion of active sportswear, sci-fi imagery and high fashion in his creations for Vuitton.

By May 2016 the French designer headed south to Rio, for a collection unveiled before the legendary flying saucer-shaped, and Oscar Niemeyer-designed, art museum of Niteroi – blending football imagery, scuba suits and neoprene in an epic show.

Since then he has been to Kyoto, Japan and finally, this past May, Ghesquière’s latest LV cruise collection was staged in the Fondation Maeght on the French Riviera.

No news yet of the exact location in New York,  though the blend of images on Instagram that included the Brooklyn Bridge, East River and classic early 20th century skyscrapers, suggested it will be somewhere iconic.
