CBRE's annual report "How global is the business of retail?" has found that London remains the world's most international shopping destination.

More than half, 57.9% to be exact, of the retailers surveyed were present in London, up from 57.3% in 2014, which means that London remains at the top. It's followed by Dubai (55.7%), Shanghai (53.4%) and New York (46.3%) - all keeping their same slots as in the 2014 report.

When it comes to new target markets, Tokyo is the top choice - 64 new retailers opened in the city in 2014, followed by Singapore with 58 and Abu Dhabi with 55.

"The traditional retail triumvirate of London, Paris and New York continue to be challenged and in some cases overtaken by cities from Asia Pacific and the Middle East. This trend is likely to continue and there will be a day when we see a new number one atop the overall retail penetration rankings," the CBRE concluded.
