Lenskart opened its new multi-brand eyewear stores across 46 Indian cities in 19 states as it continues its ambitious retail expansion plan, the business announced in a statement. On Republic Day, Lenskart opened stores in locations including Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Karnataka, Bihar, Kerala, Assam, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Chhattisgarh, and Punjab, among others.

“We aim to enable vision for one billion people by 2027 globally and this is a positive step towards it,” said Lenskart founder Amit Chaudhary in a statement about the store openings, ET Bureau reported.

Lenskart plans to reach a brick-and-mortar store total of 1,000 in February and open 400 more stores from now until the end of the 2022 financial year on March 31. The business aims to expand with an omni-channel approach as it also retails from its e-commerce store.

“People residing in tier 2 and 3 towns prefer the experience of a retail store in addition to using online e-commerce like their tier 1 counterparts,” said Lenskart’s chief retail expansion officer Sunil Menon, the Economic Times reported.

“We are keen to service these tier 2 and 3 markets through Lenskart’s franchise network expansion, increasing access to eye check-up services where it matters the most.”
