"The announcement of Alber Elbaz' departure as Artistic Director caused shock, but there was no wave of panic. Everyone is saddened but has returned to their activities," said a spokesperson for Lanvin, belying the rumours that have been circulating over the past few days over internal discontent. "There's no picket line. The transition is underway," she said.

Lanvin is continuing on with its activities and has reassured its customers of this. The fall 2016 pre-collection will be released as scheduled. Its completion has been entrusted to Chemena Kamali, Lucio Finale and Elie Top. Chemena Kamali comes from Chloé and oversees ready-to-wear. She joined the House just two weeks to fill the role of Style Director under Alber Elbaz.

Elie Top has been head of jewellery at Lanvin since 2001, while Lucio Finale, who was in charge of womenswear bags since 2014 was recently promoted to Creative Director of womenswear bags and footwear. He will present the Accessories collection on 9 November.

For his part, Lucas Ossendrijver, head of menswear collections at the House since 2005, will continue to see to the creation of the men's pre-collection. Lanvin is considering all options for the successor to Alber Elbaz. "A decision that will not be made in haste," said the House.
