Lakmé Fashion Week introduces Gen Next designers for upcoming edition

Lakmé Fashion Week has announced the six winners of its International Institute of Fashion Design Gen Next contest who will showcase collections at the upcoming winter/ festive edition of the fashion week in Mumbai.
The LFW and INIFD advisory board named its six Gen Next designers who will showcase their winter/ festive collections on the runway in Mumbai to introduce them to an international audience and kick-start their fashion careers. The six brands include Ura Maku by Manjushree Saikia which will present “Dawn to Reality”, a collection that mixes traditional western wear silhouettes with handwoven textiles from Assam.
New Delhi-based brand Amaaré by Sahib Bhatia will present a menswear collection using cotton and wool blends. Bhatia is inspired by native Australian art with hints of traditional Japanese fashion and his collection will also feature coats and jackets with embroidery and other surface techniques.
Little Things Studio by Ankita Srivastava will showcase a collection of handloom textile sarees and Edwardian-inspired silhouettes that feature prints inspired by the artist Henri Matisse. Srivastava told Vogue India that the textile prints are hand-drawn then screen printed onto the garments.
Anatomy by Gaurav Singh will present a collection that takes the banana leaf as its inspiration translated in Khadi and given structure by boning and draping. Zilzom by Stanzin Palmo will showcase a collection inspired by Ladakh’s flowers and the region’s national dress and Noié Noié by Akanksha Aggarwal will present a collection that explores dreams and reality using linen and 100 percent cotton, the designer told Vogue India.
